Dawah Assistant Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy — Da'wah Assistant

Effective Date: August 15, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Da'wah Assistant ("the App") handles your information. This policy applies to both the iOS and Android versions of the App. It describes the App's current data practices and how to contact us about privacy.

1. Overview & Compliance

Da'wah Assistant is an Islamic question-and-answer reference published by JSD Applications. The App does not create user accounts, does not include advertising or tracking SDKs, and does not include analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.

To keep the reference current, the App downloads a published content file from a Cloudflare Worker over HTTPS. Search, topic suggestions, and reading happen on your device using that local copy. Optional one-time tips are processed by the App Store or Google Play. On Android, the App also displays GCash details so you can send a tip in the GCash app if you choose.

This page is the public privacy policy for the App. Store privacy questionnaires (Apple's privacy details and Google Play's Data safety form) are separate and must match these practices.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores the following on your device so it can work offline and remember your preferences:

  • Published content cache: the downloaded question-and-answer file, an ETag used to check for updates, and related timestamps, in a local SQLite database named dawah_content_cache.db.
  • Local update logs: a short history of content changes derived from those downloads, kept with the cache (up to 50 entries).
  • Preferences: theme choice, reading font size, and the time of your last successful manual content refresh, in platform SharedPreferences / UserDefaults.

This local data stays on the device unless you clear the App's storage, uninstall the App, or your device's backup service copies App data as described below. The App does not require you to create a profile to store these items.

3. Files, Documents, or User Content

You may type a search query or an assistant message inside the App. Those queries are matched on the device against the local content cache so the App can suggest related topics. They are not uploaded to our servers. Assistant messages are kept in memory for the current session and are discarded when you leave that screen. The App does not provide file uploads or a system document picker.

4. Cloud Backup, Sync, and Data Encryption in Transit

The App does not offer an account-based cloud sync of your personal notes or preferences. It does fetch the published content file from https://dawah-content.joenardson-jd.workers.dev/content.json over HTTPS/TLS. When a cached copy already exists, the App may send an If-None-Match ETag header so Cloudflare can skip an unchanged download.

That request is required to obtain or refresh the reference content. After a successful download, the App can continue from the local cache and only contacts the Worker again on its update schedule or when you refresh.

If you enable iCloud Backup, Google backup, or another device backup, the operating system may include the App's local database and preferences in that backup. Those backups are controlled by Apple, Google, or your backup provider, not by a sync service we operate.

5. Purchases and Subscriptions (Platform Handling)

Tips are optional, one-time consumable in-app products (dawah.small.tip, dawah.medium.tip, dawah.large.tip, and dawah.extra.tip). The App does not sell subscriptions or unlock paid content. All reference content remains available without a purchase.

On iOS, purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. On Android, purchases are processed by Google through Google Play Billing. Apple or Google handle payment-method details according to their own policies. The App uses the platform purchase SDK to list products, start a purchase, receive purchase status and identifiers, and finish (acknowledge or consume) the transaction on the device. The App does not send receipts, purchase tokens, or entitlement data to a server we operate.

On Android only, the App also shows a GCash QR code, the recipient name JOENARDSON D., and the number 09060092160. That display is not a GCash SDK. If you send money with GCash, G-Xchange, Inc. (GCash) processes the transfer under GCash's privacy notice. The App does not upload GCash account data. As the payment recipient, we may see sender details that GCash shows on the transfer, and we use that only to recognize the tip.

6. Clipboard

When you choose Copy, the App writes the selected question, answer, and related labels to the device clipboard so you can paste them elsewhere. The App does not read the clipboard.

7. Third-Party Services

These parties receive user or device data when you use the related feature:

  • Cloudflare: hosts the Worker and content file. When the App checks or downloads content, Cloudflare receives standard request data such as your IP address, approximate network location derived from that address, User-Agent, and the ETag header described above. Role: content delivery. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
  • Apple: processes App Store tip purchases and related account or device identifiers needed to complete StoreKit transactions. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
  • Google: processes Google Play tip purchases and related account or device identifiers needed to complete Play Billing transactions. See Google's Privacy Policy.
  • GCash (G-Xchange, Inc.): processes a tip only if you send one with GCash on Android. See GCash's Privacy Notice.

Opening Mail, Messenger, YouTube, the App Store, Google Play, this policy page, or the developer portfolio uses the system browser or the destination app. Those services then apply their own policies.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your information. Data leaves the device in these cases:

  • Content refresh (required for updates): request metadata, including IP address, is sent to Cloudflare as part of fetching content.json.
  • Store tips (optional): Apple or Google receive the purchase request and payment data needed to complete the tip.
  • GCash tips (optional, Android): if you pay with GCash, GCash receives the payment data you submit in that app.
  • Support (optional): if you email us, we receive your email address, the message, and any information you include.
  • Links you open (optional): tapping a contact option or a link in content opens another app or site, which may receive the URL and any data the operating system sends to complete that action.

9. Data Retention

Local cache and preferences remain on your device until you change them, clear the App's storage, or uninstall the App. Assistant chat text is not written to the content database and ends with the session.

Cloudflare retains request logs according to Cloudflare's own retention practices. We do not operate a separate user database for the App.

If you email us or send a GCash tip, we keep that correspondence or sender detail only as needed to recognize the tip or respond, and we delete it when you ask unless a legal obligation requires us to keep it.

10. Data Deletion Policy

The App has no user accounts, so there is no in-app account-deletion flow.

To delete data stored on your device, uninstall the App or clear the App's storage in your device settings. That removes the local content cache and preferences.

To ask us to delete support emails or any GCash sender details we hold as the recipient, email jsd.application@gmail.com. Tell us enough to identify the message or transfer. We will delete what we hold unless we must retain it to comply with law.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App or applicable law changes. The current version will be posted at this public policy URL with a revised effective date. For material changes, we will provide notice in the App or by another appropriate method when reasonably practicable.
