Privacy Policy — Quran Tagalog

This Privacy Policy explains how Quran Tagalog ("the App") handles your information. This policy applies to both the iOS and Android versions of the App. We respect your privacy and are committed to full transparency under Apple App Store and Google Play compliance standards.

1. Overview & Compliance

Quran Tagalog is a mobile application designed for reading, searching, and studying the Quran with translations. The App is designed with an offline-first architecture. It does not require a user account, does not collect personally identifiable information (PII), and is fully compliant with Apple's App Privacy Guidelines and the Google Play Data Safety requirements.

2. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

All user-generated progress and application data are stored locally on your device's sandbox storage. This includes:

  • Your reading progress, last read positions, and Khatam milestones
  • Bookmarks, favorites, and shortcuts to specific surahs or verses
  • App settings and user interface preferences (such as fonts and themes)
  • Engagement statistics and reading streaks (such as daily reading streak count)
  • Subscription status and transaction dates (stored securely in local preferences)

This data remains strictly on your device and is not transmitted to our servers or any third-party databases.

3. Account and Login Data

Quran Tagalog does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details. The App works fully without any user registration, email association, or profile creation.

4. Files, Documents, or User Content

The App does not access, collect, or upload any user files or documents. When you use the local backup and restore features, the App only accesses the specific backup file that you select using the native system file picker.

5. Cloud Backup, Sync, and Data Encryption in Transit

Quran Tagalog does not use cloud storage, cloud sync, or server-side databases. All your data is stored locally. The App includes a local backup and restore feature that allows you to manually export your progress into a JSON file (e.g., quranjsd_backup_v2_...json) and save it to a folder of your choice on your device.

Data Encryption in Transit: Because the App does not transmit user data to external servers, no user data is sent over the internet by the App, with the exception of standard, encrypted billing requests handled natively by the operating systems.

6. In-App Browser / WebView

Quran Tagalog does not contain an in-app browser or WebView. Any external links, such as links to developer resources, are opened in your device's default system browser using standard system capabilities.

7. Text-to-Speech / Speech / AI Processing

The App does not include speech recognition, text-to-speech, or AI processing capabilities, and does not process or transmit any audio or voice data.

8. Purchases and Subscriptions (Platform Handling)

Quran Tagalog offers optional in-app subscriptions to support development (Bronze Supporter, Silver Supporter, and Gold Supporter tiers).

All transactions, payments, and subscriptions are processed securely by Apple (through the App Store / StoreKit) or Google (through Google Play Billing). We do not directly collect, process, or store your payment details, credit card numbers, or billing addresses. Your transaction history and payment data are governed by Apple's or Google's respective privacy policies.

9. Analytics, Crash Reports, and Diagnostics

Quran Tagalog does not use any third-party analytics or crash reporting SDKs (such as Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or Sentry). Any diagnostics or app performance monitoring is handled locally on your device.

10. Advertising and Tracking

Quran Tagalog is completely ad-free. The App does not contain any third-party advertising networks or tracking SDKs, and does not track your online activity across other apps or websites.

11. Device Permissions

Quran Tagalog may request the following permissions on your device depending on the platform:

  • iOS Photo Library Access (NSPhotoLibraryAddUsageDescription & NSPhotoLibraryUsageDescription): Required to save generated verse screenshots directly to your Photos application.
  • Android Storage Access: Used to import or export your progress backup files.
  • Android In-App Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING): Required to process in-app subscriptions.
  • Internet Access (Android): Used only to verify subscription validity with the Google Play Store and to open external support links.

You can manage or disable these permissions at any time through your device's system settings.

12. Clipboard

The App allows you to copy verses to your device clipboard so you can paste them into other applications. This action is processed locally on your device by the operating system, and clipboard contents are not sent to any servers.

We do not sell, trade, rent, or share any personal data with third parties. Your data remains strictly on your device.

15. Data Retention

Since all your data is stored locally on your device, it is retained for as long as the App is installed. Exported backup JSON files are retained in the location you saved them until you manually delete them.

16. Data Deletion Policy

How to Delete Your Data: You can delete all locally stored app data by uninstalling the App from your device. To delete exported backup files, you must locate them in your device file manager and delete them manually.

17. Children's Privacy

Quran Tagalog is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, store, or solicit personal information from children under 13, as the App operates locally and does not collect any user information.

18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted within the App. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
